The Open Studio Exhibition/Residency at 21 Plympton Street from May to June, 2024 showcased a selection of previously exhibited marble and photopolymer prints from the installation Looking for Edmonia (Self-Portrait). It also allowed for the further development of new work including Performing the Dummy.
Orginally the idea was to make a binded book dummy titled Looking for Edmonia, a Roman ghost story in three chapters, Bridge of Angels, Via Canova and Borghese Gardens. But during the residency I decided to explore the newspaper print format and made broadsheet dummies instead triggering the everyday ritual of forming new scupltural paper narratives. I called the action Performing the Dummy which culminated into a performance piece on the last day of the residency. In dialogue with the static pieces is the accompanying slow rotating mobile with three photographic images of angels in flight who witness the daily sculptural evolutions.
